‘Gunter’ - Jeffery Mills
Awkward, German exchange student who always feels like the outsider except when he tends the chicken flock at his host parents' farm. He forms a very close relationship with his favorite hen named Gisela.
‘Sadie’ - Cyndi Williams
She knows that Gunter has a tough row to hoe at school and she tries to encourage him with the chickens and other things that he's interested in. Her maternal instincts blossom around him, since she has never had children of her own.
‘Marcus’ - Jason Harper
Head honcho bully. He takes special pleasure in tormenting Gunter.
‘Bugs’ - Carl Romines
He's the smallest of the Marcus gang -- a few years younger, but makes up for his smaller stature with extra bravado. He's the kid to watch out for, because he always has something to prove to Marcus and the others.
‘Shelly’ - Chris Montgomery
Marcus' second-in-command. He plays tough as long as he's with the gang, but shrinks from conflict when he's by himself. He doesn't have an original thought and will do whatever Marcus tells him with unfailing loyalty.
‘Sheriff’ - David R. Jarrott
He's the only law in the small town and he carries his authority with ease. The sheriff isn't easily excited, but he will act with confidence and finality. He's honest and fair and considers himself something of a father figure to his community.
‘Billy’ - Braeden Kennedy
Young upper-middle class boy about 10 years old. He's delicate and sensitive and is constantly tormented by his older sisters. Like many families of his class and time, he's closest with the nanny (Mandy) and seeks confort whenever scared.
‘Mandy’ - Maria Collins
Woman who is both housekeeper and nanny for an upper-middle class family. She is a firm, kindly woman with a real flair for storytelling that recalls the dramatic oral tradition often associated with working class folk.
‘School Teacher’ - Tiffany Taylor
Female country teacher in her 30's. She has to be stern while dealing with kids from a variety of ages in her small school room. She does it by the book and doesn't suffer misfits easily.
‘Church Minister’ - Robert Tolaro
He's the quintessential Southern preacher. His rich, booming voice fills his small church with the word of God.
‘Young Mandy’ - Charissa Allen
Early twenties servant girl who's a hard worker, but her quick sense of humor is never far from the surface.
‘Billy's Sister 1’ - Tiger Darrow
‘Billy's Sister 2’ - Rachel Beth Reznick
These two pubescent girls are the picture of spoiled and sassy. They think they can do no wrong and that everyone else can do no right. Their main pastime consists of frightening Billy with the scary Chickenfüt song.
